The role of churches in rural development – Ölbő Conference

Now I write these lines in a few weeks perscpective from the Ölbő Rural Development Conference. After our arrival and quick registration, before the conference started we had a chance to look around. there were a lot of local producers and artisan stands so we bought some souvenirs.

After the opening held by Tamás Eperjesi, András Veres and Bishop Miklós Beer and Chief Medical Officer Károly Garda shared their thoughts on the role of churches in rural development. After this there was a longer break which we spent in the garden of Szent Miklós Gyógyfüves Ház, viewing and tasting its fresh fruits. After the presentation we had a chance to have a pleasant talk with the other participants.

After returning they continued with the presentations; representatives from both the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and Hungarian Reformed Charity spoke and told their personal experiences that they gained in the rural ares of Hungary.

In conclusion, the bishops told about their experiences and initiatives.

We learned what „farming around the church” means and how can the church work az a catalizator in the region

It was extremely informative and inspirative to be there in person to watch and listen to these success stories.
